The Rockets have a blast in Benidorm

A WIGTON band which has been gigging for 47 years went down a storm on one of Europe’s biggest stages at Benidorm Palace. Drummer Rueben Slater had just celebrated his 60th birthday when Rue and the Rockets were invited to play in the country where they had a number one hit with Sticky Vicky two years ago. “We stormed them,” said Rue. “We got applause twice as loud as anyone else, and when we mentioned Carlisle the place erupted.
