Wigton Hospital Summer Fete
The Wigton Hospital Summer Fete went ahead on 12th June and for the first time in several years the weather was exceptionally kind, it was a glorious summer day.
Volunteers had erected the marquees and set out the tables & chairs which were kindly loaned from St. Cuthbert’s Church hall; delicious cream teas were supplied by May Grainger; there was a barbeque; bric-a-brac stalls; face painting by Alison Hurley; gardening section with a variety of plants; a raffle and last but most definitely not least, musical entertainment supplied by the very talented young people of the Nelson Thomlinson Band directed by Mr Thorpe.
The general feeling of the League of Friends was that the Fete had been enjoyed by those who attended, it was unfortunate that there were several other events being held locally on the same day which may have been why visitor numbers were down on previous years; nonetheless, the event raised a very credible £1,800 for which the League of Friends are very grateful.
Our secretary, who is known for his keen photographic skills, has said he was rather too busy quality checking the scones to wield his camera on the day of the fete, we may have photographs from another source shortly, so keep looking at the site.
Wigton Hospital League of Friends is Registered Charity No. 1035890
