Wigton Hospital Summer Fayre 2011
It may have rained; but it was Fayre all afternoon at Wigton Hospital!
This year, our fundraising and the Summer Fayre have a particular focus, we are asking for help to raise money towards buying specialist mattresses systems for the benefit of the patients in Wigton Hospital. The good people of Wigton and surrounding areas responded; turning up despite the wind, rain and occasional bright spells (we use the term “summer” loosely but the rain actually did stop now and again).
Once again we had amazing musical entertainment supplied by the very talented young people of the Nelson Thomlinson Band who played music of the Big Band era including my favourite, the unforgettable Glenn Miller Orchestra jazz classic “In the mood”.
The various stalls which were run by our hard working volunteers did a steady trade, and on the day, you helped us to raise £1,691 in total, no mean feat given the weather and thank you for your generosity.
All the lucky winners of the raffle prizes will be contacted within the week.
