Thank-you!
Thanks to the generosity of people in the Wigton & Solway area, the League of Friends have been buying equipment for Wigton Hospital.
The League of Friends have purchased and delivered 8 TEN's Machines for use by the Physiotherapy Department at Wigton Hospital. These little machines provide a means of pain relief which some people benefit from and we know they will be put to good use.
We can also announce that we have, due to the amazing generosity of the people of the Wigton area; been able to place the order for 10 of the Talley specialist alternating pressure mattress systems we have been raising money for. You can now be assured that when a patient in Wigton requires one of these, it will be available immediately; they are quiet in operation, provide a comfortable sleep surface and are one of the essential tools used in the prevention and treatment of pressure sores.
In addition we have also ordered a chair cushion which utilises the same alternating pressure as the specialist mattress and which has the added benefit of having this same surface extended up the chair back from the cushion, providing pressure relief for the patient even when seated in a chair.
Again due to the generosity of the people in the Wigton area, two Nebulisers have been ordered for use on the ward to replace and bolster their availability for the patients within the hospital. These devices are powerful mains compressors that provide effective drug delivery and will nebulise (make into aerosol) any medication patients may be prescribed for chronic and acute chest conditions.
We would like to send a BIG THANK-YOU to all who have contributed to our fundraising which has enabled us to buy this equipment; you can be assured that it has been well spent and that the patients will benefit greatly from the various items we have purchased.
At the last meeting of the League of Friends the Secretary (Dr George Brown) provided details of donations raised and received in the current financial year. He also highlighted the comments which accompanied these donations which showed an appreciation of the care and compassion shown by the staff to patients and their families. These letters and comments have been passed to the Matron to share with the staff.
