Many horticultural shows, including Langholm, have fallen by the wayside and even 25 years ago, if you read this week’s article in Times Past on this page, it is clear that the number of competitors was dwindling and that was a cause for concern.
Last Saturday Canonbie flower show was held in the village hall, supported by outdoor activities, including a fancy dress parade, vintage vehicles, children’s sports and entertainment, so it just goes to show how successful they can be.
Far from dwindling, Canonbie attracted a bumper entry in the adults and 417 in the children’s classes.
