A car crashed into neighbouring garden walls, leaving a trail of devastation and damage costing thousands of pounds.
Residents had their peace wrecked when the driver of the Ford Fiesta lost control in a crash that also destroyed fencing and damaged a telephone pole.
Debris was sent flying through the air, with bricks falling just short of at least one of the homes affected by the smash in Syke Road, Wigton.
Amazingly, nobody was seriously hurt in the one-car crash.
The vehicle, driven by a 22-year-old from Wigton, was left with a mangled bonnet and front bumper.
Paul Shakesby was in bed when the car smashed into his wall at 10.30pm on Tuesday.
He said: “There was this almighty great big bang.
“Our wall was almost completely demolished. The neighbour’s wall was demolished. We had bricks about a foot from the window.”
Mr Shakesby said residents had a constant problem with traffic, with speeding common on the 30mph road.
A police spokeswoman said they were aware of wider problems of speeding in Wigton.
